Serie A: Week 20 – Top 5 Goals and Misplay of the Day

So here’s something new (for me anyway) that I’m going to try and do on a weekly basis.  The title of the post pretty much sums it up.  I’m going to post my “Top 5 Goals of the Week”, and my pick for “Misplay of the Day”.

So here we go!!!

At Number 5

Croatian International Duje Cop puts this nice volley past the Sassuolo keeper (skip ahead to 0:32 of the video…)

At Number 4

A nice little right footed, curling shot from Nico Pulzetti helped Cesena end their 18 match winless streak and earn 3 much needed points.

At Number 3

Miroslav Klose is known mostly for his goal scoring, but this picture perfect cross to Marco Parolo is fantastic.  And Parolo does a wonderful job hitting this on a left footed volley.  Great goal.

At Number 2

I’m not sure who is more surprised that this went in; the goal scorer, Silvan Widmer, or the Empoli keeper, Luigi Sepe.  Seriously, Widmer almost looks embarrassed that he scored this fantastic goal

And the Number 1 Goal of the Week!!

Paul Pogboom is incredible.  One day I may actually write a post on him.  He’s a joy to watch.  His control is amazing. He plays for my team.  He will one day win the Ballon d’Or.  And Manchester United pretty much gave him up for free.

Had he scored this goal, it would have been number one.  Instead, watch him score this left footed screamer after making the Chievo player look foolish.

Also, if you take a video of yourself doing your best Pogdance, I’ll be happy to post it on a future blog post.

Misplay of the Day

There were a few contenders for the Misplay of the Day.  I could easily have been the Cesena own goal, or this painful injury to Filip Djordjevic before Parolo scored his second goal of the game.  But no, neither of these beat the person on the field who only has one job to do, and failed.  Yes, Mister Goalline Referee, I mean you.  I mean, it’s not like he was out of position or anything.

Goal line technology?? Can’t come soon enough.
